    An American Airlines flight attendant has been indicted after authorities say he tried to secretly video record a 14-year-old girl using an airplane bathroom. A federal grand jury on Thursday indicted 36-year-old Estes Carter Thompson III, of Charlotte, North Carolina. Police say he also had recordings of four other girls using lavatories on an aircraft where he worked. Thompson was indicted on one count of attempted sexual exploitation of children and one count of possession of images of child sexual abuse depicting a prepubescent minor. He remains in federal custody.

        Officials say sheriff’s deputies fatally shot a man who sped toward them in a vehicle as they were serving a search warrant in a neighborhood on Friday in Memphis, Tennessee. Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner says deputies were serving the high-risk drug warrant at about 3:30 p.m. when a man who was waiting in a vehicle drove toward a SWAT team at high speed in the Orange Mound neighborhood. Bonner says deputies opened fire, killing the driver. No deputies were hurt. Bonner says four people have been detained for questioning, and charges are expected. During a search, deputies found several firearms with high-capacity magazines and a handgun equipped with a Glock switch.

          President Joe Biden says he is willing to debate Donald Trump later this fall. Biden's comment Friday is the most definitive he's been on whether he would debate his presumptive Republican opponent. The comments came during an interview with the radio host Howard Stern on his Sirius XM show. So far, Biden’s reelection campaign had declined to commit to participating in the debates, a hallmark of every general election presidential campaign since 1976. Trump said he was ready, though he questioned Biden's actual willingness.
